The Dog Days of Summer Market
In the slowest days of summer – the “Dog Days” – food and beverage businesses often see a drastic decline in patronage and consumer support. This year, our numbers are lower than ever, but we’re not the only ones. The Dog Days of Summer Market aims to bring together a community of food & beverage businesses that could all use a little extra support during our slowest season, uplifting the small, owner-operated businesses that call Durham home.
Cocktail Competition
Two rounds of cocktails. Two baskets of mystery culinary ingredients. Local bartending & kitchen legends. Presented by Sutler's.
Chutneys & Chaats
One of our most popular classes, back for the summer:
Learn to make our signature mint-cilantro chutney and our tamarind jaggery chutney, as well as two different chaats, in this two-hour cooking class at Cheeni: RTP.
Attendees will learn the processes and history behind each kind of chaat, and will receive a recipe card for each chutney.
Included in the price of each ticket is the option to sit and enjoy the chaats made during class time in a family-style setting with the rest of the attendees.
This class will take place in our Private Dining Room, during open hours, so the bar & kitchen will be open before, after, and during instruction.
Naanzas for Kids!
Join us for an al fresco, kids-only cooking class at Cheeni RTP! With a beautiful green outdoor play area, a splash pad, and plenty of air conditioning for the adults, we've got your summer afternoon covered.
In this short class, kids from 2 to 10 years old will learn how to make naan dough, mixing, rolling, and shaping their dough for practice at home.
After learning how to make dough from Chef Preeti herself, our kitchen will take each kid's specialized naanza order, make them a mini, personal naanza, and provide time & space on our covered porch for everyone to enjoy their meal.
Come for the fun, then stay awhile for Horseshoe's kid-friendly infrastructure, including a beautiful outdoor field, plenty of covered, shady areas, and a splash pad.
Our kitchen will be open, as will our bar, so parents have a cool spot for dinner and drinks if they'd like.
